Michael Shanahan is a PhD Candidate at the Queensland University of Technology exploring Australian adults with a corpus callosum disorder and their experiences of anxiety. Michael is a Registered Nurse working clinically on the Sunshine Coast, a sessional academic teaching in the Master of Nursing program at James Cook University, part of AusDoCC’s management committee, and has been involved in other disability, mental health, and health equity projects. Equity for disabled people in health care and privileging the voice of those with the lived experience are the focuses of Michael's research and advocacy efforts. Anxiety in corpus callosum disorders has always been a topic of discussion in the community, is under-researched in the scholarly literature, and is worthy of exploring as one of the many potential impacts for people with a corpus callosum disorder. Michael has partial agenesis of the corpus callosum and diagnosed anxiety disorders.
